“I like the cross hatch stitch. It looks very fancy, as if you've been crocheting for years. It's a great beginner crochet project that works up quickly.”

Decide how long you want your scarf by chaining a multiple of 7 plus 1.

[This means that after you make the desired multiple of 7 you will add just

one more chain. So, if you did 7 multiples (7 x 7 = 49 + 1); you will have

50 chains.]

Directions:

Row 1: 2 dc in the 4th ch from hook, skip 3 chains, 1 sc in the next ch, *ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 3 chs, skip the next 3 ch, sc in next ch, repeat from 8 across, turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in first st, * skip next 3 dc, (1 sc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch 3 space repeat from * across ending row with a sc in the top of the turning.

Repeat row 2 till you reach your desired length. I worked my cross hatch scarf for 20 rows.

Enjoy and be prepared to make several of these to give as gifts.

Abbreviations:
